Eliminating the Confusion of The Cell Phone Industry

By Stanley Rachert

Making a choice about the right cell phone plan for you or your family can be a daunting task. It's tough to know which company to use, especially if you just need a basic phone and service. Most any salesperson at a cell phone retailer will attempt to convince you to purchase more options than you need. It is more than likely that you will have to ask specifically to see an older phone because the salesperson will be relentless in their efforts to sell you the newest technology and plan.

It is almost certain that as soon you choose a cell phone plan to meet your needs and sign the contract, the company will advertise a new plan, with more minutes than the plan you just purchased. Only under very unusual circumstances will they allow you to change to the improved plan, so you are basically trapped in the inferior plan for at least a year.

Perhaps your best bet is to go with a prepaid service where you can really control how much you spend. All the other plans have a monthly charge and if you don't want to get involved with one of those, the prepaid option is the best. With a prepaid service you never have to pay more than you have put in and there is no chance of running over on minutes making it the safest route.

Seniors are not always as quick to pick up on new technology as the younger generations. In fact, sometimes they never pick it up at all. In the case of cell phones, it is smart to look for the best cell phone plans for seniors as the regular ones might be too expensive and give too many minutes. There are plans that are designed just for senior or ones that would be better for seniors. There are also cell phones available that are easier to use that don't have all the fancy buttons and gadgets but just the necessities. If you are looking into getting a cell phone for a senior, you should look into all the plans and phones available to find the simplest ones.

While looking for a cell phone and plan for the first time can be overwhelming and confusing, it does get easier with subsequent phones and plans. Some people upgrade their phone annually, while others will keep the same phone for as long as it is still working. The cell phone companies are constantly offering newer phones with newer, greater features and better plans to convince as many people as they can to make the switch to their company.
